This stunning Southern BooBook Owl has been on my radar for some time. As an Australian Birdlife Artist I love capturing the majesty and characteristics of each chosen subject. In this case I was totally captivated by this beautiful owl’s alluring gaze and regal half turned stance. She was a subject not to be overlooked in my artistic aviary of birdlife.
The BooBook is the smallest Australian owl. They are renowned for their acrobatic skill in catching prey and like many Australian birds build nests in hollow trees.
BooBook owls roost during the day and come out only during the night. Hence I have affectionately named this beautiful owl “Stella” the Latin name for star.
