A small painting of a popular little Splendid Fairywren.  As a birdlife artist I can testify when in full splendor the Splendid Wren or Blue Wren flirtation suit consists of   over 16 glinting shades of blue.

“Billie Blue” is a member of my popular and forever growing “Happy Wrensday” series painted in celebration of our beautiful Wrens.

Native to Australia there are three different varieties of the Splendid Fairy Wrens.  The species inhabits  shrub lands and shrubby woodlands in arid and semi-arid locations.   Where the varieties meet they breed with each other.
